Nismo Breaks New Ground With Its First Overseas Performance Hub

Nissan Motorsports and Customising (NMC) has taken a major step in expanding the Nismo brand internationally, opening its first-ever Nismo Performance Centre outside Japan at Ferntree Gully Nissan in Melbourne, Australia.

The new facility brings specialist Nismo expertise closer to Australian owners, giving them access to services and knowledge associated with Japan’s famous Omori Factory. Customers can expect advanced vehicle restoration programmes, genuine Nismo performance and heritage parts, as well as support from factory-certified Nismo Meisters trained in the brand’s specialist craftsmanship.

The Melbourne opening marks the first stage of a wider Australian expansion announced by NMC and Nissan Oceania in May 2026. The initiative aims to strengthen Nismo’s presence across several areas, including performance vehicles, heritage models, restoration work and parts. Nissan has also confirmed plans to introduce additional Nismo Performance Centres in Australia from 2027.

Yutaka Sanada, President and CEO of NMC and global head of the Nismo brand, described the opening as an important milestone in the company’s international growth strategy. He said Nissan wants to bring Nismo closer to customers in selected markets through the right products, services and experiences.

Australia is only the beginning of the plan. Nismo intends to establish more Performance Centres in other priority markets, allowing owners and enthusiast communities worldwide to benefit from the expertise developed in Japan. However, Nissan has yet to announce which countries will be next.

Could Malaysia Be Next?

For Malaysian enthusiasts, the big question is whether the country could eventually receive its own Nismo Performance Centre.

There is no official confirmation of a Malaysian expansion at this stage, and Nissan has not disclosed which markets it considers priorities. Still, Malaysia has a sizeable Japanese performance-car following, including a strong community of Nissan GT-R owners and enthusiasts.

Australia’s selection as the first overseas location makes sense given its established GT-R community. Malaysia could also be an interesting candidate, although whether that enthusiasm translates into an official Nismo facility remains to be seen.

For now, Australian owners will be the first outside Japan to gain access to this dedicated Nismo experience, while enthusiasts elsewhere will have to wait for Nissan’s next expansion announcement.
