Leapmotor Reaches Major Milestone With 1.5 Million Vehicle Deliveries Worldwide

Chinese EV manufacturer Leapmotor has reached a significant global milestone, announcing cumulative vehicle deliveries of 1.5 million units worldwide. The achievement comes just eight months after the company surpassed the one-million-delivery mark, highlighting the brand’s rapid growth in the increasingly competitive electric vehicle market.

Leapmotor’s journey began in June 2019 with the delivery of its first production vehicle in China. The company crossed 500,000 cumulative deliveries in October 2024 before doubling that figure to one million units by October 2025. The latest 1.5 million milestone further reflects the momentum generated by the brand’s international expansion strategy through the Leapmotor International joint venture.

Malaysia is also becoming an important part of Leapmotor’s global growth plans. Earlier this year, the company commenced local CKD (completely knocked down) assembly operations at the Stellantis manufacturing facility in Gurun, Kedah. Production initially focuses on the Leapmotor C10 electric SUV, with the smaller Leapmotor B10 expected to join the local assembly programme before the end of the year.

The localisation initiative is supported by an initial investment of €5.33 million (approximately RM25 million). Around €3.1 million has been allocated towards upgrading production lines and manufacturing infrastructure, while the remaining €2.23 million will be used to support local assembly development and operational expansion.

To strengthen its presence in Malaysia, Leapmotor has also partnered with Cycle & Carriage as its distribution operations partner. The collaboration will expand the brand’s retail and service network to key locations including Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru and George Town, while a flagship 3S centre is also set to open in Glenmarie.

With local production underway and an expanding dealer network, Leapmotor appears to be accelerating its ambitions not only in China but also across Southeast Asia as it pushes towards its next growth milestone.
