Jetour T1 Opens for Booking in Malaysia, Bringing Rugged Style at a Lower Entry Price

Jetour is wasting no time expanding in Malaysia.

Fresh off the launch of the larger T2, Jetour has now opened bookings for the new Jetour T1, a more compact SUV aimed at buyers who want the tough, boxy SUV look without stretching into a higher price bracket.

The T1 will arrive in two variants for Malaysia: the 1.5L TGDi 2WD and the more powerful 2.0L TGDi XWD, with estimated pricing starting from RM143,800 and RM153,800 respectively. That puts it directly into the fight against rivals like the Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro.

Positioned below the T2, the T1 keeps much of the same adventurous DNA but tones things down for urban buyers.

At 4,705mm long, 1,967mm wide and 1,843mm tall, it’s slightly smaller than the T2, but the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,800mm, which means cabin space should remain one of its strong selling points.

Visually, the T1 carries the rugged squared-off SUV silhouette Jetour is building its identity around, but with smoother body lines and a more road-friendly overall shape. Unlike the T2’s side-opening tailgate and rear-mounted spare tyre setup, the T1 adopts a cleaner rear-end design with a conventional powered tailgate.

Under the hood, the entry-level variant gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, with overseas specs showing outputs of around 184PS and 290Nm. Power goes to the front wheels, making it the more practical daily-driving option.

The flagship variant steps things up with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, producing up to 245PS and 375Nm in some global markets, paired with Jetour’s XWD intelligent all-wheel-drive system and multiple terrain modes designed for rougher surfaces and light off-road use.

Inside, the T1 pushes for a premium feel.

The base model comes fitted with a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-speaker sound system, leatherette upholstery, powered driver’s seat, and ambient lighting. Wireless connectivity support, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, is expected to be part of the package, although final local specs are still pending.

Move up to the 2.0-litre XWD, and the upgrades become obvious — a larger 15.6-inch central display, Sony 9-speaker premium audio, panoramic sunroof, powered passenger seat, memory seats, and 64-colour ambient lighting lift the cabin experience significantly.

Safety also looks competitive.

Both variants are expected to include Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, and a 360-degree panoramic camera system, features that are quickly becoming expected in this segment.

The Jetour T1 will launch in four colours for Malaysia: Khaki White, Aviation Silver, Sand Gold, and Carbon Black.

With the T2 aimed at buyers who want a more hardcore off-road image, the T1 feels like Jetour’s smarter volume play — keeping the rugged SUV appeal while lowering the price barrier.

And in a Malaysian market that’s becoming increasingly crowded with Chinese SUVs, the T1 might just hit the sweet spot between style, tech, and price.
