Proton <\/strong>has opened bookings for the X50 Sport Edition (SE)<\/strong> in Malaysia, introducing a darker, sportier take on its popular SUV. The announcement comes just one day after the launch of the Chery Tiggo Cross Sport Edition, setting up a fresh contest between two locally available compact SUVs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This marks the second time Proton has introduced an X50 Sport Edition, following the first version launched in January 2025 based on the previous-generation model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First showcased at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026<\/strong>, the latest X50 SE builds on the range-topping Flagship variant, combining distinctive styling upgrades with a comprehensive list of standard equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All-Black Exterior With Red Highlights<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The new X50 SE adopts an all-black exterior theme, featuring black front upper garnish, front side-port trim, lower bumper accents and rear side-port trim.<\/p>\n\n\n

It also receives exclusive front, side and rear body skirting<\/strong>, giving the SUV a more aggressive appearance. Blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels further reinforce the darker look, while red accents around the exterior provide contrast.<\/p>\n\n\n

Inside, Proton continues the black-and-red theme with black leatherette upholstery and red stitching. The front seats feature Sport Edition embroidery, while the TPE floor mats receive dedicated SE branding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flagship Equipment Comes Standard<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Since the X50 SE is based on the Flagship variant<\/strong>, it retains the range-topping model’s key comfort and technology features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging pad, six-way power-adjustable front seats and a semi-translucent sun visor.<\/p>\n\n\n

The dashboard features a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen<\/strong> with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other highlights include a 360-degree surround-view camera with a 180-degree transparent-view function and 15 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features<\/strong>, including Auto Park Assist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Familiar Turbocharged Performance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Under the bonnet, the X50 SE carries over the existing model’s 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 181 hp and 290 Nm of torque<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Power is sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0\u2013100 km\/h in a claimed 7.6 seconds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proton also quotes fuel consumption of 6.1 litres per 100 km<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Price and Launch Details Still Pending<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Although bookings are now open, Proton has yet to announce the X50 SE’s official launch date or Malaysian pricing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For reference, the previous-generation X50 Sport Edition was introduced in January 2025 as a limited-run model capped at 1,000 units<\/strong>. It carried an initial price of RM105,300 before a RM7,000 rebate was offered, making it RM2,000 more expensive than the Premium variant on which it was based.<\/p>\n\n\n
