Hyundai\u2019s Fast EV Era Begins in Malaysia as IONIQ 5 N and 6 N Open for Booking<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hyundai Motor Malaysia has officially stepped into Malaysia\u2019s performance EV scene \u2014 and it\u2019s doing it loudly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making its first major appearance since its direct market entry, Hyundai used the Penang Autoshow 2026 to open order books for its high-performance N-badged EVs: the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N and the all-new Hyundai IONIQ 6 N.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Estimated pricing starts from RM450,000<\/strong> for the IONIQ 5 N, while the sleeker IONIQ 6 N is expected to begin from RM460,000<\/strong>, officially bringing Hyundai\u2019s motorsport-inspired EV lineup into Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This marks more than just a product launch \u2014 it\u2019s Hyundai\u2019s first direct push into Malaysia\u2019s premium performance EV segment.<\/p>\n\n\n

The IONIQ 5 N: Hyundai\u2019s Electric Hot Hatch Goes Serious<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The IONIQ 5 N has already made headlines globally after winning the 2024 World Performance Car<\/strong> award, and it\u2019s easy to see why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built around Hyundai\u2019s dedicated E-GMP platform, the performance-focused EV packs a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing up to 650 PS<\/strong> with Hyundai\u2019s \u201cN Grin Boost\u201d mode activated. Torque peaks at around 770 Nm<\/strong>, launching the car from 0\u2013100 km\/h in just 3.4 seconds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Top speed? A serious 260 km\/h<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Power comes from an 84 kWh battery pack<\/strong>, delivering up to 448 km WLTP range<\/strong>, while Hyundai\u2019s 800V architecture allows 350 kW DC fast charging<\/strong>, pushing the battery from 10% to 80% in around 18 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But what makes the 5 N stand out isn\u2019t just speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Features like N e-Shift<\/strong> simulate gear changes, while N Active Sound+<\/strong> creates artificial engine sounds to bring back some of the emotional feel missing in traditional EV driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s an EV built to feel less like an EV.<\/p>\n\n\n

The IONIQ 6 N Takes It Further<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Then there\u2019s the IONIQ 6 N \u2014 Hyundai\u2019s sharper, lower, and more aerodynamic performance sedan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharing the same 650 PS powertrain formula, the IONIQ 6 N shaves its sprint time down further, hitting 100 km\/h in just 3.2 seconds<\/strong> while stretching range to 487 km WLTP<\/strong>, thanks to its more efficient aerodynamic shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visually, it gets a more aggressive rear profile with a Swan Neck rear spoiler<\/strong>, larger aero enhancements, and track-focused hardware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike the 5 N\u2019s crossover-like stance, the 6 N feels much closer to a proper electric sports sedan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that could make it the more serious driver\u2019s car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built-to-Order for Malaysia<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hyundai says both N models will be offered on a built-to-order (BTO)<\/strong> basis in Malaysia, meaning inventory will be limited and buyers will essentially reserve production slots rather than purchase from ready stock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That approach keeps exclusivity high \u2014 and helps Hyundai better manage demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bookings are currently available through selected Hyundai N authorised dealers, including Sime Darby Auto Hyundai, Goh Brothers Motor, and Heng Lian Enterprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each booking also comes with official Hyundai N merchandise worth RM2,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

What makes this launch important is what it represents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For years, Malaysia\u2019s performance car scene has been dominated by petrol-powered hot hatches, sports sedans, and imported JDM icons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now Hyundai is bringing its N division into the EV conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Globally, Hyundai N has built strong credibility through N\u00fcrburgring testing, motorsport development, and high-performance engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IONIQ 5 N proved an electric car can still feel playful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
